The mission of American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) is to train tomorrow’s physicians, whose service to their communities and their patients is enhanced by international learning experiences, a diverse learning community, and an emphasis on social accountability and engagement. AUC offers an innovative and exciting pathway to a medical degree through a partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). This degree track is open to qualified non-US citizen students who do not yet hold a bachelor's degree who seek an accelerated pathway to complete their medical education in the United States of America. AUC graduates can pursue licensure in all 50 states of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

University Highlights

UK-Track Medical Degree Program  

AUC offers an innovative and exciting pathway to a medical degree through a partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). This degree track is open to qualified non-US citizen students who do not yet hold a bachelor's degree and who seek an accelerated pathway to completing their medical education. 

Following completion of the medical sciences curriculum, students must take and pass United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE) Step 1, which is required for progression to the clinical sciences portion of the medical degree program. During the final two years of the medical degree program, student's complete clinical clerkship rotations in the wide network of AUC-affiliated teaching hospitals. 

4 Year Graduate Entry Medical Doctor Degree Program  

An innovative four-year program with the first two years focused on studying the medical sciences, and understanding how to integrate learnings with clinical practice, and the final two years completing core clinical clerkships across AUC School of Medicine’s wide network of affiliated teaching hospitals.  

Our exciting MBBS to MD pathway option, which provides advanced standing to MBBS graduates.  

AUC boasts a robust alumni network of over 7,500 individuals, and its graduates can be found practicing medicine across the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world. Most AUC graduates successfully secure medical residencies before completing their studies, thanks to their participation in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). This program allows them to match with esteemed teaching hospitals and medical centers in the United States.  

UC students’ five-year cumulative first-time pass rate for the USMLE Step 1 exam is 92.4% from 2017-2021.  

AUC is committed to helping committed and capable students relieve the financial burden of medical school.  

AUC’s offer a scholarship specifically for international (non-US) students.  

All of AUC’s clinical rotations are provided at Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved hospitals.  

Through the clinical affiliation with the Medical Education & Global Health program at Danbury Hospital in the US, AUC School of Medicine students have the opportunity to complete the six-week clinical rotation in one of five countries: Vietnam, Russia, the Dominican Republic, Uganda, or Zimbabwe, with each site offering the unique ability to access different medical systems, environments, patient populations, and health practices. Students gain significant hands-on training and exposure to entirely different healthcare systems.
